The Durability Of Solid-State Drives

Jul 08,2019

In traditional hard drives, small moving parts continue to exercise to generate heat, which is the dominant factor in hard drive failure. Because SSDs do not have any moving parts, they are more reliable and resistant to vibration/shock than traditional hard drives. In addition, because they do not contain small, sensitive components in traditional hard drives, they are more resistant to general falls, accidents, and wear. If a laptop with a solid-state drive accidentally falls, the computer screen may break, but the SSD may be unscathed. This is the durability of SSDs.
